Precious Pet

Oh, dear pet, there is no need to flinch from me in fear. You surrendered your will to me, remember? You serve me now, utterly and irrevocably, and I have no need to make you suffer any longer.

I am not one to damage what is mine; I take care of my possessions.

Now what shall do with you? What use are you suited for?

No, don’t tell me you have none. Everything has a use, if one has the imagination to find it and the power to make it bloom, and I am not so small a creature as to be unable to find yours.

So you are limited by your physical abilities? That is so for all beings in comparison to me.

Do your mental faculties leave something to be desired? All I truly demand of you is your devotion, and I can assure you that everyone can be taught to worship.

Hold still a moment while I pluck your essence from your body.

Ah, see how easy it is to obey?

Little flame, you flicker in the palm of my hand, and I see your fear of how effortlessly I could snuff out your light.

I may be fearsome, but do not fret, this is the fun part.

Yes, your body is lacking, but it can be reshaped or discarded according to my whim. You’ve seen my other servants, yes? Perhaps my many-limbed warlocks wielding shards of my power or the beautiful succubi with their soft curves and extra eyes with which to admire each other?

They first came to me, one and all, as small and pitiful creatures like you. Each found the form that would best suit them in service to me.

Even the gems in my crown are content to be as they are, did you know that? Some beings are only suited to be pretty little things.

They too serve, in the own way. Their role is simply to be a precious possession, to be owned in a way that visibly demonstrates my power. Some are unsuited to responsibilities greater than this, but ah! Do you not see their self-satisfaction in each sparkle?

Yet that is not your fate, I think. I have seen the envy in your eyes for others among my lovely pets.

I have also seen how, deep down, you want to prove your value. Even now I see those aspects of yourself you smother so firmly that even you have forgotten them.

I shall feed them.

A new body altogether for you, then. One bearing teeth and talons, with sharp protrusions of bone at the joints, venomous spikes arrayed in fearsome rows on its back, and the whetted senses of a hunter to seek out my enemies.

It is a form suited for one who has been hurt before and who will never be hurt again, yes?

There you go, little flame, enter this deadly new body and claim it for yourself. And your old one, well… Let it be a feast for you in honor of your beautiful new self.

Good pet.
