Her eyes narrow. “Why are you coming to me with this?”
“You’re the only one in the palace I trust,” I respond flatly, staring her dead in the eyes.
“Bullshit. I’m the one who still hasn’t forgiven you for everything you did before joining our side.”
“Exactly. Everyone else acts like they’re perfectly happy to forgive and forget, except you.”
She folds her arms. “That makes no sense.”
“How do you trust anyone who only reveals sharpness behind your back?” I ask. “You’re the only one who shows me exactly where I stand.”
She scowls but begrudgingly accepts my point by dropping the argument. She snatches the letter from my hands with a curt, “I’ll look into this, but I still don’t trust you.”
I nod in gratitude. “I’ll value your trust all the more when I earn it.”
